Double world champion! Wierer follows up in the individual

Dorothea Wierer had to fight until the last centimeter on Tuesday afternoon and get everything out of herself. When she left the shooting range for the fourth time, she was a good two seconds ahead. With each split time the mini-cushion melted by a few tenths of a second, but in the end Wierer went one better and was 2,2 seconds faster than Vanessa Hinz at the finish. The German won the silver medal, while the Norwegian Marte Olsbu Røiseland came third. Two mistakes, but Wierer stays cool Wierer started the competition with start number 57 and was the last of the big favorites to take to the course. At this point, Monika Hojnisz-Starega was well in the race, but the Pole lost all hopes of the title with the last two cartridges. None of the top athletes made it through without any mistakes, so Wierer held all the trump cards despite two mistakes on the first two attempts. When Hinz missed a target in the last standing stage, Wierer seized the opportunity and outstripped the Bavarian by a hair's breadth on the final lap - the South Tyrolean's second world championship title was secured. Vittozzi & Co. disappoint Lisa Vittozzi experienced an individual competition to forget. The 25-year-old missed eight targets, received just as many penalty minutes and was ultimately the worst-placed Azzurra (71st).
