A Wierer podium with a flaw

In Oberhof, Dorothea Wierer was denied a podium place last week, but now she can climb onto the podium in Ruhpolding for the first time in 2020. Thanks to a flawless shooting performance and an average performance on skis, the racer - who is currently struggling with back problems - ended up in third place. Wierer was only beaten by the Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff, who confidently took her fifth win of the season, and the Swede Hanna Öberg.

After the first shooting range stop, Wierer was still level with Eckhoff, but then continually lost time and finally ended up in third place, 36 seconds behind. Nevertheless, a strong performance from Doro, who was able to celebrate her fourth podium finish of the season. Eckhoff gets the yellow jersey However, there was a flaw: Because Eckhoff – currently the Puster woman's fiercest competitor – won the competition, she took the yellow jersey from the overall World Cup leader from Wierer. The racer's deficit is only a measly 3 points. So Wierer has the chance to take back the yellow jersey in the pursuit on Sunday.

Lisa Vittozzi, who took 9th place and was able to celebrate her second top 10 result in a row, seems to be slowly getting back into shape.
