Dorothea Wierer bites her teeth

As a Eighth place in the sprint race Wierer went into the final pursuit on Sunday in a promising position. While Wierer was able to stay in the top ten, her teammate Lisa Vittozzi had a really bad day. After three penalties, she slipped from seventh on the grid to 15th. Wierer and Vittozzi were the only two Azzurre to qualify for the pursuit. Nobody can keep up with Røiseland At the front, Wierer and Vittozzi's long-term rivals delivered the big show. An outstanding Marte Olsbu Røiseland had to go into the penalty loop twice, but still left the entire competition behind. The pursuit world champion from Antholz shook off the aspiring sprint winner Dzinara Alimbekava from Belarus on the last lap.

Third place behind the error-free Alimbekava went to the Frenchwoman Julia Simon (3 penalties), who left an incredibly unleashed Hanna Öberg behind her. The Swedish overall World Cup leader ran from 29th to fourth place.

Wierer & Co. now have until Friday to recharge their batteries before the next race in Hochfilzen. The second World Cup stage in North Tyrol opens on Thursday with a men's sprint.
