Dorothea Wierer: It's not enough to be at the top at the moment

The overall World Cup winner of the last two years took 10th place in the sprint in Hochfilzen on Friday - a solid result, but it hasn't been enough to be at the top since her opening victory in the individual in Kontiolahti. The speedster is not yet at her top level as a runner, so she currently has to shoot the infamous “0” so that she can compete at the front.

This was not the case in Hochfilzen: After a brilliant and flawless series in the prone position, Wierer missed a shot while standing and had to go into the penalty loop. In the end, the exceptional South Tyrolean athlete crossed the finish line 47 seconds behind. Nevertheless, 10th place is a good starting position for the pursuit on Saturday, which will take place at 15 p.m. Norway dominates On the other hand, the Norwegians' performance this week is impressive. On Thursday the “Elche” celebrated a quadruple victory for men , the next day there was a triple success for the women.

The sprint was won by an unleashed Tiril Eckhoff, who, despite a mistake on the shooting range, ran in the face of everyone and prevailed with a 7 second lead over Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. Marte Olsbu Røiseland ended up in third place, 24 seconds behind. Behind her are Franziska Preuss (+25 seconds) and the Öberg sisters Elvira (+27) and Hanna (+29).

Wierer was the best biathlete from Italy. Lisa Vittozzi is not getting up to speed this season either: 3 shooting errors and a minute and a half behind meant that she ended up in 30th place in the final rankings. Irene Lardschneider ended up in 59th place and at least qualified for the pursuit.

The men will be in action with their pursuer on Saturday at 13 p.m., the women's turn will be at 15 p.m.
