Dorothea Wierer is not far away

Wierer achieved her first two top ten placements of the season at the last World Cup before Christmas in Le Grand-Bornand, finishing 10th and 4th. On Friday in Oberhof she confirmed her upward trend with a 10th place. This means that the woman from Niederrasner can look forward to the highlight of the season, the Olympic Games in Beijing (February 5th to 20th), with hope.

The 31-year-old only left the penultimate disc standing during the sprint, but as a result she possibly missed her first podium of the season. However, things didn't go as well for Lisa Vittozzi. She again showed major weaknesses in prone shooting (3 errors). This meant that all hopes of a top spot were immediately gone. In the end, Vittozzi ended up in 49th place. Federica Sanfilippo from Ridnaun took 73rd place and was therefore unable to qualify for the pursuit on Sunday. Røiseland rushes from victory to victory With improved but still not ideal conditions in Oberhof (the wind and snowfall have increased compared to the Men's race somewhat decreased), Marte Olsbu Røiseland took her 4th win of the season. The Norwegian thus extended her lead in the overall World Cup. Second place went to Hanna Sola from Belarus, who was able to impress once again this winter. The French Julia Simon came third, pushing Sola's teammate Dzinara Alimbekava off the podium.

On Saturday at the World Cup in Oberhof there is a mixed relay (12.15 p.m.) and a single mixed relay (14.15 p.m.) on the program. The competitions in Thuringia will conclude on Sunday with the men's (12.30 p.m.) and women's pursuit races (14.45 p.m.).
