Dorothea Wierer on critics, children and Playboy offers

“D'oro-thea” – that is the title of the story about Dorothea Wierer in “Fuorigioco”. The reporter wanted to know how she got into biathlon. “If you were born in Antholz, there is basically nothing else,” was the answer from Wierer, who completed a proper preparation program in the summer. “We worked six to seven hours a day,” says the woman from Niederrasner.

The topic of the Olympics was also discussed. Wierer, who started out as a medal hopeful, missed out on the medal in Pyeongchang - and received criticism from some quarters for it. The 28-year-old defends herself against this: “Only those who practice this sport know that nothing is predictable in biathlon. Many people don't know what it means to wait four years for a single race.” How Wierer deals with the criticism? “There are a lot of people who are angry and insulting, especially on social networks. You have to get used to it.”

“One day I’ll be a full-time mom.” Will the woman from Niederrasner also take part in the Olympics in 2022? “I definitely want to stay in business until the World Championships in Antholz 2020. After that I'll see more. There are many other beautiful things in life too. For example, I love fashion, I like to put on make-up and put on high heels. And most importantly, I would like to have children at some point and be a full-time mother. I can’t imagine playing professional sports again after becoming a mother.”

Last but not least, Wierer was also approached about an unusual offer. Russian Playboy contacted the pretty biathlete a few years ago and invited her to get naked for the men's magazine. “Biathlon is extremely popular in Russia. But I would never, ever take my clothes off in public. That would be embarrassing.”
