Eckhoff sprints to gold – Vittozzi points out

Eckhoff cleared all the targets at the shooting range in the women's first individual race in these title fights and was in a class of his own, especially in the final round. The Norwegian won her second individual gold at a World Cup. She won her first in 1 at the home World Championships in Oslo - back then she was also unbeatable in the sprint.

Silver went to the Frenchwoman Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet in the sprint. Meanwhile, Belarusian Hanna Sola caused a big surprise when she secured World Cup bronze thanks to a flawless shooting performance. Lisa Vittozzi also knew how to convince: The Azzurra, who remained clean, missed out on a medal - also because she took too long in the standing shooting. In the end it was enough for 5th place. Lardschneider convinces, Wierer fails However, things didn't go as well for Dorothea Wierer. The woman from Niederrasner had to go into the penalty loop twice and thus missed out on a top spot. The 2-time overall World Cup winner left a target at both shooting ranges and will start the pursuit in 2th place.

Irene Lardschneider, however, showed a strong performance. The 23-year-old from Val Gardena remained flawless at the shooting range and ended up in 24th place. While Michela Carrara was also able to convince with 23rd place, Federica Sanfilippo from Ridnaun ended up in 79th place, outside the top 60.

The Biathlon World Championships on the Slovenian plateau continue on Sunday with the men's (13.15 p.m.) and women's (15.30 p.m.) pursuit competitions.

Tiril Eckhoff won the gold medal in the women's World Championship sprint on the Pokljuka. For Dorothea Wierer, however, there was nothing to gain.
