Gold again: Lardschneider wins at the Junior World Championships

From a South Tyrolean perspective, Irene Lardschneider's gold medal is of course the top result. The Wolkensteiner started the pursuit competition with a remarkable lead and even extended this lead in the two prone attempts. But she made two mistakes while standing, so she made things exciting again. “I then just hoped that the lead would be enough, but when I was able to get on the track ahead of the Frenchwoman, I was reassured. In the end I had to give it my all and now I'm extremely happy," said Irene Lardschneider, describing her emotions during the competition. Behind Lou Jeanmonnot Laurent from France, who took silver, Samuela Comola from the Aosta Valley secured bronze again.

The junior pursuit silver medalist also comes from the Aosta Valley. Michela Carrara started from the front as the winner of the sprint, temporarily lost her lead and even slipped back to 5th place. But with a brisk series in the last stop, she catapulted herself back into the medal positions, even overtook Ingrid Tandrevold from Norway in the finish sprint and secured herself behind the outstanding Russian Valeriia Vasnetcowa (who came from 24th starting position and was the only one to hit all 20 targets ) Silver.

The intensely competitive Sunday with four pursuit races began for Alex Inderst and his team with a birthday surprise for the head coach: Cedric Christille took advantage of his good starting position (he was 4th in the sprint) and shot courageously, as if from a single source, at high speed and good security. He made up two places and confidently secured the silver medal. He only had to let the French sprint winner Emilien Claude go, who thus picked up his second gold in Osrblie. While Aosta's Cedric Christille was able to improve, the South Tyrolean's pursuer didn't quite go according to plan. Patrick Braunhofer got off to a good start, but then made a mistake in the first standing stop (three errors) and lost five positions. Seven mistakes also dropped Marteller Peter Tumler from 8th to 19th place.

The junior competition then saw the second triumph for the Kamchatka Russian Igor Malinowskii. Although he was almost brought down on the route by a very drunk trainer (this must also be openly denounced), he came out ahead of Sindre Pettersen from Norway and Anton Smolski from Belarus.

The Italians only played a minor role in this competition.
