Fourcade wins the race – Hofer in the top 20

Fourcade, who won all the individual balls last year and consequently also the big crystal ball for the overall World Cup, also won the individual at the start of the new season. The Frenchman fought until the end, especially with the Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bø. Both athletes missed twice on the shooting range, but Fourcade made the fresher impression on the cross-country ski trail, relegating the Norwegian to second place with a lead of 29,5 seconds.

The Belarusian Vladimir Chepelin took third place with one shooting error, while “Oldie” Ole Einar Bjørndalen achieved a strong fifth place.

Lukas Hofer with a good performance From a South Tyrolean perspective, Lukas Hofer's result was pleasing: the Montaler showed a good performance at the shooting range despite the adverse conditions (as in the women's race on Wednesday, the men also had to struggle with difficult wind conditions) and missed three times. He still has some room for improvement on the cross-country ski trail, but he was happy with 19th place.

Dominik Windisch's performance, on the other hand, was disappointing: he missed a total of eight of 20 targets, incurring eight penalty minutes and placing himself outside the points rankings.
