Gold in the individual: Fourcade leaves Bø behind

A duel between Fourcade and Bø was expected, but it turned out to be a duel between the two superstars of the biathlon scene. But it was only really exciting until the Norwegian's last standing stage. Because Bø made his second mistake at the aforementioned stop, the subsequent race to catch up on the cross-country ski trail was a hopeless endeavor. Especially since Fourcade also ran strongly, in the end even ten seconds faster than the Scandinavian. The 31-year-old Frenchman won the world championship title and his second medal in Antholz after finishing third in the sprint on the podium. If he could, Dominik Landertinger would probably have bitten himself in the butt more than once after reaching the finish line. The man from Innviertel remained flawless at the shooting range – until the last shot. That one mistake almost cost Landertinger the medal, but Slovenia's Jakov Fak ended up being eight seconds slower. Bronze goes to Austria, it is the first red-white-red medal in Antholz and a huge relief for the 31-year-old that the one mistake wasn't one too many. Difficult conditions In general, the biathletes had a very difficult time at the shooting range. The wind blew strongly through the Antholz Valley at times, and the weather conditions changed almost every minute: there was everything from sunshine to blowing snow. US boy Leif Nordgren (8th) was the only athlete without a mistake.

In return, Kazakh Danil Beletskiy missed 13 targets, which was the weakest shooting result in the men's individual event. Vinny Fountain (11/Great Britain), Milos Kolic (10/Bosnia & Herzegovina) and Soma Gyallai (10/Hungary) also didn't have their best day at the shooting range.
