Hanna Öberg: “The goal is the overall World Cup”

Hanna Öberg has already achieved a lot in her career. For example, the 25-year-old won Olympic and World Championship gold in her favorite discipline, the individual (where a penalty minute is incurred for every shooting error). Last year she also grabbed the small crystal ball in this discipline and also ended up in 4th place in the overall World Cup. So it's no coincidence that Lisa Vittozzi, who sees Öberg of the same age as the top favorite for the overall World Cup this year.

The Swede herself also has high goals for the new biathlon season, which begins on November 28th in Kontiolahti, Finland. The preparation went perfectly, which is why no hurdle seems to be too high for her this year. “Winning the overall World Cup is very prestigious in biathlon. Of course, this is a goal that I would like to achieve this winter. But to do that I have to concentrate on every single race, every single lap and every single shot,” Öberg told the Swedish medium Expressen .

When asked how many gold medals the big crystal ball would be worth to her, she answered jokingly: "I don't know, if in doubt you can also win everything.”

Öberg doesn't need the spotlight This year we can't look too far ahead anyway because of the Corona crisis. “I’m just happy that we’re allowed to compete at all. But I also believe that apart from the competition itself, everything will be different. For me, however, it's not a big problem to just stay in the hotel room. I’m someone who needs some rest after the race.”
