A bitter setback for Dorothea Wierer

The performance at the winter sports center near Norway's capital Olso is particularly bitter for Wierer. She scored seven goals in a row at the shooting range and was clearly on course for a podium finish before she missed on her last three attempts and had to complete three penalties. She was passed through to position 39. This means she slips back from third to fifth place in the overall World Cup.

Kuzmina takes victory and pole position But that's not all: the small crystal ball in the Pursuit World Cup also seems to be slipping out of Wierer's hands. There she is tied in the lead with Anastasiya Kuzmina, but the Slovakian took victory today and thus the ideal starting position for the final competition on Sunday. She was almost two minutes faster than Wierer.

Although Kuzmina made a mistake on the shooting range, she still relegated the flawless Darya Domracheva (Belarus) and Yuliia Dzhima (Ukraine) to second and third place.

The in-form Lisa Vittozzi made it to tenth place as the best “Azzurra”. Federica Sanfilippo, on the other hand, had to settle for 36th place after two errors at the shooting range.

The women continue their World Cup program on Saturday with the relay race.
