Herrmann celebrates his first World Cup victory - two Azzurre in front

At the age of 28, former cross-country skier Denise Herrmann celebrated her first success in the Biathlon World Cup on Friday. Although she missed the standing mark in the sprint competition, she left the entire competition behind her and raced across the finish line with a commanding lead. She was by far the fastest athlete on the cross-country ski trail. The French Justine Braisaz and Yulia Dhzima from the Ukraine also had to acknowledge this. They took second and third place.

For a long time it seemed as if Lisa Vittozzi would also make it to the podium. She remained flawless at the shooting range and also performed well on skis, but in the end she took fifth place. This is the first exclamation mark from the Italian biathletes in this World Cup winter.

Prone shooting is Wierer's downfall

Dorothea Wierer also made it into the top ten thanks to a good running performance. Although she had to go into the penalty loop once after the prone stage, she made no mistakes and finished with the ninth best time.

Meanwhile, Alexia Runggaldier lost a lot of time on the cross-country ski trail and had to settle for 39th place, while Federica Sanfilippo only took 55th place after two shooting errors.
