Hofer: “I showed what I can do at the shooting range”

Hofer won two medals at the World Championships in Östersund, but the 29-year-old was not completely satisfied with that. The South Tyrolean was denied any precious metal in an individual competition. Hofer was all the happier with second place in the sprint at Holmenkollen.

“I am very happy with the race. I showed what I can do at the shooting range. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to do that at the World Championships, but finishing the season with a podium finish is of course fantastic, and also serves as motivation for the coming winter. The perfect shooting result gives a lot of confidence for the pursuit and the mass start”.

The adverse visibility conditions did not seem to have bothered Hofer: “The race was fair, everyone had the same chance of a good result. The fog was nowhere near as thick as in Oberhof.”

If you consider that Hofer was a little unwell at the beginning of the week, this performance is even more important: “I had a little fever after the journey from Östersund to Oslo, so I didn't feel so good today. But this route suits me because there are several long climbs to be overcome where you have to run technically cleanly."

The pursuit races will take place in Oslo on Saturday, before the mass start on Sunday, which will finally bring to an end what from a South Tyrolean perspective has been a very successful World Cup season.

Like last year, Lukas Hofer managed to reach the podium in Oslo. In the end, the Montaler only had to admit defeat to the overall World Cup winner Johannes Thingnes Boe.
