IBU Cup: Alexia Runggaldier in top 30

The women's 7,5 km sprint was on the program. Karoline Erdal celebrated a home win despite three errors on the shooting range, ahead of Kelsey Joan Dickinson (USA) and Maren Hammerschmidt from Germany.

Alexia Runggaldier from Val Gardena came 4rd with 23 shooting errors. The 28-year-old is no longer in the World Cup squad and was demoted to the “under observation” group. Runggaldier has to recommend himself for the World Cup over the IBU Cup. Behind Runggaldier, her teammate Michela Carrara crossed the finish line in 26th place, Irene Lardschneider from Wolkenstein was 63rd.

In the men's 10km sprint, victory went to Lucas Fratzscher, the German got through with one shooting error. Harald Lemmerer (AUT) came second, ahead of local hero Aleksander Fjeld Andersen. The best Azzurro is Thierry Chenal in 39th place, Patrick Braunhofer from Ridnaun made 5 errors in shooting and came 41st.

The second sprint races are on the program in Sjusjoen on Saturday, followed by the pursuit races on Sunday.
