Intensive work in Forni Avoltri

The bronze medal relay from Sochi (Dorothea Wierer, Karin Oberhofer, Dominik Windisch and Lukas Hofer) has been confirmed, plus Nicole Gontier, while the resignation of Markus Windisch came as quite a surprise. There are no more athletes in the A team, the rest are in the B team or the so-called “additional athletes”, who are running, shooting and recharging their batteries together in the province of Udine this week.

The athletes don't spare themselves, “bite” in the rain and show themselves to be accurate. Dorothea Wierer in particular drops the targets like she does in winter, but the rest of the team is also in a good mood. “You could also wish that for the winter,” Andreas Zingerle smiles broadly. The native of Val Gardena completed the transition from athlete status to coaching status in just a few weeks and feels very comfortable. “The established trainers have given me a great reception, I now want to try to pass on my wealth of experience.” Michela Ponza, who has always been an excellent shooter, particularly observes the shooting training of the young biathletes, corrects, informs, and helps. Four South Tyrolean athletes in the B team

The B team consists of four South Tyroleans (Alexia Runggaldier, Federica Sanfilippo, Benjamin Plaickner, Maikol Demetz) and the athletes Thierry Chenal, Pietro Dutto, Thomas Bormolini, Giuseppe Montello and Lisa Vittozzi, while Andreas Plaickner, Denis Oreiller and Nicoló Maule from Fall If necessary, have the opportunity to take part with the “official” teams.

In Forni Avoltri the athletes from the forest guard, namely a solid shooter Daniel Taschler and Christian De Lorenzi, also stop by. There is a lot of activity on the wonderful scooter routes and the shooting range in Friuli.

In the middle of summer you are fully into the development program. This year there are no international comparisons, and the Summer World Cup in distant Tyumen (Siberia) will also be skipped. The first competitive challenge will only come at the Italian Championships in Martell at the beginning of September. All athletes have the opportunity to recommend themselves for the World Cup team. The big goal of the season is the World Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland. But the “South Tyrolean dates” in international biathlon (IBU Cup in December in Martell, World Cup in January in Antholz) are already marked red in the calendar.

Intensive work in Forni Avoltri

The signs are already wintery, even though it is still July. But the rain doesn't bother the biathletes, because even in winter you can't choose snowfall, sun or storm. Italy's national biathlon teams are currently preparing for upcoming challenges in Forni Avoltri.
