Youth relay team wins next World Cup medal

While the duel between Russia and Norway broke out at the front, Martina Vigna, as the last runner, had to hold her own against the extremely strong Finns. The petite athlete from Piedmont did this with two sensationally fast and clean performances at the shooting range, through which she made up for the time she had lost on the course. When the Finn also had to spin, the dream of the eighth medal came true for Alex Inderst's team at this successful World Championships in Slovakia. Thanks to a phenomenal final round, the Russian trio secured gold, while the Norwegians confidently maintained their place in the silver medal.

In the pack behind, Patrick Braunhofer from Ridnaun also did very well, needed a spare while standing and handed over to Peter Tumler in seventh place. He once again showed his special class on the track and was soon up to third place. But Marteller had a bad series while standing, so he had to go into the penalty loop. This meant that contact with the top was lost and the medal ranks also seemed out of reach. Although Cedric Christille put the Belarusians in front of him under some pressure with a good run and two rapid shooting sessions, he was no longer able to catch up for a medal.

The fight for gold was decided in the last shooting, where the Norwegian Sivert Guttorm Bakken got through with a spare round, while the Russian Said Karimulla Khalili had to go through the penalty loop twice. The Scandinavians thus repeated their relay triumph from the previous year.
