Crime in Oberhof: Vittozzi celebrates, Wierer struggles

While the Niederrasner woman in second place treated herself to a few sips from a drinking bottle while lying on the cross-country ski trail, she was being rearranged. The Frenchwoman Anais Bescond drove Wierer into the parade from behind. Both fell, which played into Anastasiya Kuzmina's hands. The Slovakian overtook both of them and didn't give up second place until the end.

After the last shooting: Wierer falls back At the front, Lisa Vittozzi did her laps alone. The “Azzurra” celebrated its first World Cup victory two days ago and was first in the sprint race. Despite strong winds, Vittozzi didn't show any weakness at the shooting range (two mistakes) and she was also able to impress on the cross-country ski trail. Vittozzi never really had to worry, and in the end she won by almost 15 seconds over Kuzmina.

Anais Chevalier came third, just ahead of Wierer after the fourth shooting. However, the South Tyrolean ran out of steam on the final lap. Not only did she lose the race for third place, but she was also overtaken by Bescond. Nevertheless: From 3th place to 24th place – that’s something to be proud of.

The German Franziska Preuss showed a huge comeback. Starting the pursuit in 45th place, Preuss moved up to 6th place. The competition didn't go as planned for Federica Sanfilippo, who fell from 15th to 40th place. Nicole Gontier finished the pursuit race in 20th place.
