Laura Dahlmeier's impressive bike tour

Together with two friends, the 26-year-old rode her racing bike from her hometown of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria across Germany to Hamburg. “After 4 days and 860 km we are rolling into the Hanseatic city of Hamburg,” Dahlmeier wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday: “The legs and the rear are happy about the break while we sail across the Elbe and freighters with 21 containers marvel!”

The seven-time world champion had already kept her fans updated about her Germany tour on Instagram in the days before. A stop at the World Cup venue Oberhof in Thuringia and a stage over the Brocken in the Harz Mountains were also on the route of Germany's former model ski hunter. “Thank you guys for the cool bike ride from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Hamburg,” wrote Dahlmeier.

In May 2019, the former overall World Cup winner announced her retirement from competitive sports, but has since then repeatedly drawn attention to herself in sport. The Bavarian took part in the World Mountain Running Championships in South America last year and continues to be an enthusiastic hobby mountaineer. Last winter, Dahlmeier also appeared in front of the camera for ZDF as a biathlon expert and is now studying sports science in Munich. In the future, she will also be part of a group of experts that will advise the International Biathlon Union (IBU) on the topics of sustainability and climate.
