Head over heels in love: There was a spark in the biathlon circus

Relationships between work colleagues - this is not uncommon in the sports world. With telltale photos, two biathlon aces have now quietly revealed their love secret.

The workplace is one of the most common places where people find true love. So why should it be any different in sports? The winter disciplines in particular are considered a love nest, after all the athletes often train together, compete in the same place and have similar thoughts. Things have now really cracked in the biathlon circus: the two Swedes Stina Nilsson and Emil Nykvist are the scene's new dream couple.

Stina Nilsson in particular is a famous name. The 29-year-old was a successful cross-country skier and Olympic champion in her “first” career before she started trying biathlon in autumn 2020. The Swede is still fighting for her place there, but has already underlined her potential with, among other things, a third place in the World Cup. Emil Nykvist, who is three years younger than him, is also part of the Swedish team and is still working on making his breakthrough to the world's best.

It was not previously known to the public that the two were a couple. Now Nilsson and Nykvist have made their relationship public during their vacation in Crete. Both posted photos together on social networks, and Nykvist also confirmed this to the Swedish newspaper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen: “Yes, it’s no secret. It’s good the way it is.”

In the Swedish team, Nilsson and Nykvist are not the only professional colleagues who have also come together privately. Superstar Hanna Öberg and Martin Ponsiluoma are also in a relationship.
