Lukas Hofer shines in fifth place

Lukas Hofer shone in the pursuit race in Oslo with the best running time of the entire field. The South Tyrolean raced from 21st to 5th place. If he hadn't missed once in each of the last two shooting sessions, a podium finish would probably have been within reach.

The three exceptional athletes Anton Shipulin, Martin Fourcade and Johannes Thingnes Bö fought out the top three places among themselves. The Russian held his own at the top, only having to go into the penalty loop once and ultimately clinching his tenth World Cup victory - his second this winter - with a brilliant performance. Overall World Cup dominator Fourcade left sprint winner Bö behind.

In addition to Hofer, Dominik Windisch, the second South Tyrolean, also knew how to convince. He even made up 25 places and finished the pursuit competition in 15th place after just one miss.

The 2016/17 World Cup season will conclude on Sunday with the mass start races in Oslo.
