Lukas Hofer runs up to 7th place

Because of the sometimes heavy snowfall, the 60 participants in the pursuit race were challenged, both on the cross-country ski trail and - perhaps even more so - at the shooting range. And Lukas Hofer was able to keep up well from the start.

In the first prone shooting, Hofer missed a target, but left the shooting range in the same 15th position from which he started the race. At the front of the race, sprint winner Johannes Tignes Boe had to temporarily let his opponent Martin Fourcade pass because of two mistakes.

“Luki” Hofer made no mistakes in the second shooting and worked his way up to 12th place, while Boe again took command at the top, just ahead of Fourcade.

In the third shooting, the first in a standing position, Hofer made the biggest leap forward, although he made a shooting error - but not only him: Hofer left the stadium in seventh place, while Fourcade continued to run a few seconds ahead of Boe.

At the last shooting, Lukas Hofer even had a chance of a podium place, but only if he had made no mistakes. However, he missed the last target and had to go into the penalty loop. He then left the stadium in eighth place, but was able to gain a position on the last loop on the cross-country ski trail and finished the race in a strong 7th place.

Fourcade loses war of nerves

In the fight for victory, Fourcade failed with three penalties in the fourth shooting and even fell back to 5th place. Johannes Tignes Boe, on the other hand, repeated his victory from the previous day.

The other two “Azzurri” Thomas Bormolini and Thierry Chenal had to be content with lower places. Dominik Windisch from Oberrasn did not even qualify for the pursuit race with 7 shooting errors in the sprint.

The women's pursuit race begins at 14.45:XNUMX p.m. - with Dorothea Wierer in the excellent third starting position.

Lukas Hofer runs up to 7th place

The Montaler biathlete Lukas Hofer achieved a top result in the pursuit race in Hochfilzen (North Tyrol). After finishing 15th in the sprint on Friday, the Puster native was able to work his way up to 7th place, mainly thanks to an excellent performance on the cross-country ski trail.
