Lukas Hofer and Federica Sanfilippo are Italian sprint champions

Lukas Hofer was crowned Italian champion for the fourth time in his career. The biathlete from Montal made one miss, but with a time of 25:11,7 minutes he was still almost 30 seconds faster than the speedster Dominik Windisch, who shot a total of two tickets. Bronze went to Christian De Lorenzi. With Andreas Plaickner (7th), another South Tyrolean made it into the top ten. Maikol Demetz from Val Gardena came eleventh.

In the women's race, the victory surprisingly went to Federica Sanfilippo. The Ridnaun resident recorded one miss, but was still the fastest in 22:00,4 minutes. Silver went to Lisa Vittozzi, bronze went to Alexia Runggaldier from Val Gardena. Karin Oberhofer had to make do with fourth place after four shooting errors. Carmen Runggaldier finished sixth and secured the silver medal in the junior ranking.

But that's not all, because in addition to these five South Tyrolean podium placements, there were also five media players in the other young talent categories: Linda Sulzenbacher and Simone Steinkasserer won in the youth and. Bronze in each candidate category. Among the candidates, Patrick Braunhofer, Peter Tumler and Jonas Volgger even celebrated a South Tyrolean triple success.

The starting signal for the 2015 Italian Biathlon Championships took place on Saturday at the biathlon center in Martell. The sprint competitions were on the program to start with. The titles went to South Tyrol for both men and women.
