Mäkäräinen dominates individual competition at Holmenkollen – Wierer 14.

Mäkäräinen was in a class of his own in the individual 15 km race. The Finn, who started the race with start number two, made no mistakes at the shooting range and crossed the finish line first after 43:54,8 minutes. Afterwards, the competitors bit their teeth in their turn. Second-placed Darya Domracheva was already 1:18,3 minutes behind with one shooting error. Veronika Vitkova from the Czech Republic took third place.

Dorothea Wierer was the best athlete on the Italian team. She crossed the finish line after two shooting errors, around four and a half minutes behind. In the end, the racer finished 14th. Karin Oberhofer (35th) and Federica Sanfilippo (62nd) were further down in the rankings. They missed five times each.

The World Cup program at Holmenkollen continues on Thursday afternoon with the men's race.

The Finn Kaisa Mäkäräinen confidently won the opening competition of the eighth World Cup stage on Holmenkollen on Thursday. Of the South Tyroleans, only Dorothea Wierer managed to make it into the top 30.
