Martin Fourcade also in Nove Mesto like a machine

Fourcade briefly faltered during the TV interview after the race when he talked about his season so far and had to think again about the number of victories. After thinking about it for a moment, he had the right answer: There are five.

This is of course not surprising. The Frenchman is racking up victories like a conveyor belt this season. In Nove Mesto it briefly looked as if the Fourcade rock was crumbling. During his second stop at the shooting range, he missed a shot and started the final lap 13 seconds behind the interim leader Anton Shipulin. But Fourcade also eliminated this shortcoming and was ultimately 1,6 seconds faster than the Russian. The Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen came third (+6,4 seconds).

Windisch turns 21. Dominik Windisch, who finished the race in 21st place, was much improved compared to his last sprint in Pokljuka. In his second shooting session, the racer missed once and fell back to 37th place. On the last lap, however, he made up a lot of positions and thus created a reasonable starting position for the pursuit on Saturday.

Lukas Hofer also only missed once, but was significantly slower on the cross-country ski trail than Windisch and took 32nd place in the final ranking.

On Friday the women will compete in their sprint at 17.30 p.m., on Saturday the pursuit races will take place, while the mass starts on Sunday round off the Nove Mesto weekend.
