“Mister Reliable” is back in the top ten

Lukas Hofer has already been in the top ten five times this winter, and now he has achieved his sixth top ten placement in the Bavarian biathlon stronghold. He took ninth place in the individual race over 20 kilometers. He only made two missed shots and offered his usual good performance on the cross-country ski trail. No other athlete with two mistakes at the shooting range performed better than the 28-year-old South Tyrolean.

Fourcade rejoices, Bjørndalen mourns

Hofer crossed the finish line exactly three minutes behind the exceptional French talent Martin Fourcade. Despite a shooting error, he won by around a minute over the flawless Czech Ondrej Moravec and celebrated the 68th individual victory of his career. Johannes Thingnes Bø from Norway came third.

The second South Tyrolean in the starting field, Dominik Windisch from Oberrasn, missed three times at the shooting range and just made it into the points in 29th place. All other Azzurri ranked further back in the rankings. Also biathlon legend Ole Einar Bjørndalen came away empty-handed. The Norwegian, who will soon be 44, has little chance of getting a ticket to the Olympics and is probably about to end his career.

The World Cup program continues on Thursday in Ruhpolding with the women's individual competition.
