Rebecca Passler and Hannah Auchentaller have a lot in common. Both are 21 years old and come from Antholz. Both made their World Cup debuts last season. On Thursday, the two South Tyroleans experienced another special moment – together. For the first time on Thursday, Passler and Auchentaller were in the middle of it instead of just there at their home World Cup in Antholz. And there will be a sequel: With places 42 (Auchentaller) and 54 (Passler) They both qualified for the pursuit on Saturday.

Auchentaller narrowly missed out on her first World Cup points. Nevertheless, she seemed somehow relieved after the race. There was naturally a lot of tension before the home premiere. “It is an honor for me to start here. I did not expect that. Luckily it's in the IBU Cup (a win and a second place; Note d. Red. ) went well for me. That's how I got the opportunity. Running at home is something special. I was very nervous before the start, but I tried not to look left or right, but just do my thing,” explained Auchentaller.

I used to collect autographs myself Auchentaller was quite satisfied with her performance: “I felt good on the cross-country ski trail. However, in order to get into the points, I made one mistake too many on the shooting range." When asked how special it was to run for her at home, she replied: "I only recently spoke to Rebby about it. A year ago we were here in the stands. We have been to the World Cup practically every year since we were three years old. There were also times when we collected autographs.” “We’ve come here pretty much every year since we were three years old.” Hannah Auchentaller The fact that “Doro” Wierer won at Auchentaller’s premiere made it even more special: “Who would have ever thought that it would all turn out like this? “I’m very happy that I can start again on Saturday,” said Auchentaller.

Rebecca Passler is a constant in the World Cup this year. She has already finished 17th in the sprint and has been on the podium twice in the women's relay. She wasn't entirely satisfied with 54th place on Thursday, but at least she's in the pursuit too.

Passler analyzed her race as follows: “The beginning was difficult. I didn't quite understand how the wind was changing today. I didn't really know whether to shoot or not. In the end I didn't turn (the diopter Note d. Red. ) and made two mistakes. Then I tried to hide it. I gave it my all again. Unfortunately I made another mistake.” “Experiencing my Antholz debut with Hannah makes it even more special” Rebecca Passler Passler also commented on her nerves before her Antholz debut: “I was nervous. I knew that everyone (friends, family, etc.) would be there today. Everyone told me beforehand that I should stay calm and that it was a completely normal race. But it's just not a normal race (laughs). Experiencing the whole thing with Hannah makes it even more special.”

Passler then asked in the mixed zone how her friend was doing, as Auchentaller had started the race well after her. The fact is: the bare result faded into the background a little in view of this special story. On Saturday (from 15 p.m.) the two top talents will have the next chance to prove themselves in front of their own fans.
