Young biathletes compete in Ridnaun

More than 270 young biathletes from 38 different nations will take part in the IBU Junior Cup in Ridnaun on Friday and Saturday. This is the Junior World Cup in Biathlon. The starting shot for the new season took place a week ago in Obertilliach in East Tyrol. Now the second stage is on the program in Ridnaun. It starts on Friday at 10 a.m. with the men's and women's individual competitions. The sprints continue on Saturday. Competition director Manuel Volgger sees Ridnaun ready for the IBU Junior Cup: “The cross-country ski trails and the shooting range are in excellent condition. We hope the weather cooperates.”

Three South Tyroleans at the start

There are also three South Tyrolean talents at the start of the biathlon weekend in Ridnaun. In the women's category, Irene Lardschneider from Val Gardena from Wolkenstein is at the start. Lardschneider is one of the biggest young talents in South Tyrol. At the Junior World Championships in February, she secured the gold medal in the sprint. In the men's category, two South Tyroleans are at the start: Peter Tumler (Martell) and Patrick Braunhofer. For Braunhofer, as well as for his coach Alex Inderst, it is a home race. The two come from Ridnaun.
