Oberhof: Wierer in waiting position, Sanfilippo also strong

It wasn't enough for a podium place in Oberhof. The decisive factor for this was Wierer's mixed performance on the cross-country ski trail: she only achieved the 24th best running time of the field - too slow to be able to be at the front. It's a shame, because Doro was once again in a class of his own on the shooting range, shot the second fastest of the entire field and didn't make a mistake.

Federica Sanfilippo put in a strong performance, achieving her best result of the season so far with 16th place. At the second stop at the shooting range she made a mistake, otherwise she would probably have ended up further ahead.

Start-to-finish victory for Koukalová The Czech Gabriela Koukalová couldn't be beaten on Friday. With start number one, she set the fastest time without making any mistakes at the shooting range, which the 90 runners who followed had their teeth cut on it. This was also the case for the Finn Kaisa Makarainen, who had to complete two penalty laps, but put in an irresistible performance on the cross-country ski trail and still finished in second place (+21 seconds). The French Marie Dorin Habert came third (+24 seconds). For Koukalová it was the 15th World Cup victory of her career.

The overall World Cup leader Laura Dahlmeier decided not to start the sprint in Oberhof.

However, Alexia Runggaldier from Val Gardena, who came 41st, missed out on the points. For this reason she will be at the start of the pursuit on Saturday (14.40 p.m.).
