Patrick Braunhofer recently took second and third place in skirolling at the Italian Biathlon Championships. “I feel good and the times were right,” said the 23-year-old. Another joint training camp for the biathletes begins on Thursday at the Lavazéjoch. Braunhofer has been a member of the A squad for two years. He is a very helpful person and gives me a lot of tips - even on his own initiative. “What’s more, he’s simply a world-class athlete,” enthused Braunhofer. Braunhofer's strengths lie on the shooting range His goal is, above all, to improve physically: “I hope that the hard training over the next three to four years will pay off. I definitely need to improve on the trails. First, Braunhofer would like to qualify for the World Cup opener in Östersund at the end of November. The Azzurri will do a few elimination races in Idre (also in Sweden) in the weeks beforehand. When asked about his goals in the World Cup, Braunhofer said: “My goal this year is to qualify for the top 60 in the sprint for the first time. Then I could also compete in the pursuit and gain more experience.” Braunhofer dreams of the 2026 Olympics When asked how much the 2026 Olympics in Milan-Cortina (where the biathlon competitions will be held in Antholz) are floating around in the back of his mind, the Wipptaler replied: “That is of course the main goal of my career. There is nothing bigger than a home Olympics. Whether I will ultimately achieve this goal is still up in the air. But I will give everything for it.”
