Third place: Windisch again on the podium in the pursuit

So Dominik Windisch has stepped up. Less than 48 hours after his third place in the sprint, the 27-year-old defended his starting position and finished the pursuit competition in bronze place behind the Frenchman Martin Fourcade and Arnd Peiffer.

Windisch started the pursuit furiously and even worked his way up to first place in the most adverse conditions after two error-free shooting sessions. In the first standing position, the racer had to pay tribute to the strong gusts of wind and lost contact with the leader position after three mistakes. Windisch also made two mistakes in the final shooting - but because the competition also showed nerves and shot even worse than the South Tyrolean, Windisch went into the final round in fourth place.

There, Windisch finally showed his whole class: With strong starts and a brilliant sprint to the finish, the racer kept his direct competitors for third place at bay and secured his second individual podium of this World Cup winter in the last few meters. In the final sprint, Windisch left none other than Emil Hegle Svendsen behind.

Martin Fourcade irresistible Only Martin Fourcade and Arnd Peiffer were better than Windisch in today's pursuit. The pro-biathlete from France once again put on an inimitable demonstration of power and secured victory with a lead of over a minute. Behind Fourcade, Peiffer (15th after the sprint) ran into second place to great cheers from the German audience.

The pursuit didn't go quite as planned for Lukas Hofer: The Montaler, who started the race in fourth place, had to go into the penalty loop five times and ultimately fell back to twelfth place.

Dominik Windisch is currently in excellent shape: In the men's pursuit in Oberhof (Germany), the Puster native finished third and achieved an individual podium finish for the second time this season.
