Lukas Hofer was on the podium in an individual race 7 times in his career. The last time this was the case was on March 22, 2019 in Oslo, when he was only beaten by Johannes Thingnes Bø in the sprint. Now this spell is to be broken in Antholz of all places. The Montaler celebrated some of his greatest successes there in the past. He celebrated his only World Cup victory to date here in January 2014. Last year, Hofer took silver in the mixed relay at the home World Championships. In the last 4 solo competitions in the World Cup, Hofer was never ranked lower than 6th. He also took home a podium place with the men's relay last Friday. Hofer was in outstanding condition at the double World Cup in Oberhof, especially in terms of running. Only Johannes Thingnes Bø is currently faster on the trail. Doll opens – Hofer with 42 For the men it’s Friday – like for the ladies the day before – an individual competition (there is a penalty minute for every shooting error) on the program. Hofer tackles this 20 km race with start number 42. The second South Tyrolean, Dominik Windisch (he has shown increasing form recently), will start the competition earlier (with number 36), which will be opened by the German Benedikt Doll. Top favorite Johannes Thingnes Bø comes with number 31. In addition to Hofer and Windisch, three other Azzurri, Thomas Bormolini (3), Tommaso Giacomel (57) and Didier Bionaz (85), will start in the singles on Friday (13.15 p.m.).
