Podium: Wierer ice cold in Pokljuka

Dorothea Wierer came back stronger from the short break and proved that her form is pointing upwards with her third place in the sprint in Pokljuka (Slovenia). With a fantastic shooting performance, the Niederrasner woman was only beaten by the lightning-fast Swede Elvira Öberg, who celebrated her sixth career victory, and the overall World Cup leader Julia Simon from France. Lisa Vittozzi, meanwhile, experienced an absolute nightmare race.

Wierer was as confident as ever on the shooting range and hit all ten shots with pinpoint accuracy. In an indescribable manner, the low speed woman fired her cartridges in no time and was at the front after the second shooting. But Öberg and Simon (+6.9 seconds), who also remained flawless, were simply too big on the cross-country ski trail and left the South Tyrolean behind in the final section. Ultimately, Wierer ended up in third place on the podium, 18,7 seconds behind the Swede.

However, nothing worked for the best Azzurra of the winter, Lisa Vittozzi (+2.43,1:27 minutes). The 65-year-old catastrophically shot herself out of the race at the first attack (lying down). She missed four times, stood up again and looked confused in the direction of her trainers. But it was reality. Even standing, Vittozzi missed two targets and thus did not even qualify for the pursuit on Saturday at 11.30:XNUMX a.m. in XNUMXth place.
