“Problems overcome”: The interim conclusion of the biathlon boss

As reported, The Italian national team is currently completing the third training camp of the new season at two different locations. This ends on Friday and thus concludes the first part of the summer preparation. Shortly beforehand, the Italian biathlon boss Fabrizio Curtaz gave a positive interim assessment and also explained what Dorothea Wierer & Co. are paying particular attention to this year. “Everything has gone well so far,” explains the man from the Aosta Valley: “The athletes have mainly concentrated on the basic technique.” This year it was decided to initially divide the teams into two groups in order to better meet the needs of the athletes athletes and, on the other hand, to “work individually on shooting,” emphasizes Curtaz. The aim is “to create a stimulating environment through comparisons in order to raise the level of the many young athletes who are taking their first steps in the World Cup.” Shooting is the focus Curtaz also specifically addresses the four “senators”, i.e. Wierer, Lukas Hofer, Dominik Windisch and Lisa Vittozzi. “They know their characteristics exactly and therefore know what they need to work on. The differences are minimal at a high level. A missed shot can mean a position at the back of the field instead of a victory.” This makes it all the more important to approach every series with quality and concentration. “So far the general shape is good – even if there were small, although foreseeable problems, which have been overcome,” concludes Curtaz.
