Sensational: Rebecca Passler beats Vittozzi and Wierer

The 19-year-old from Antholz prevailed in the mass start ahead of the big favorites Lisa Vittozzi and Dorothea Wierer. Passler confirmed her excellent form. This year she won 3 medals at the Junior World Championships in Obertilliach and came 3rd in the IBU Cup at the same place. “I never expected that I would finish ahead of all the other athletes. At the end I was very excited and even fell a few meters before the finish because a stick got between my skis. After the medals at the Junior World Championships and the podium finish in the IBU Cup, this result is the icing on the cake today,” said the victorious Passler after the race. Behind Vittozzi and Wierer, another young woman from Antholz, Hannah Auchentaller, came in 4th. Federica Sanfilippo from Ridnaun took 6th place. Hofer wins the men's event In the men's race, top favorite Lukas Hofer narrowly won ahead of Thomas Bormolini. “It was a really tough race with soft snow. I tried to overtake Bormolini on the last climb and luckily I managed to do that,” said Hofer after the race. Dominik Windisch crossed the finish line in 3rd place.
