Sponsorship contract: Half a million for Antholz

At today's meeting, the state government signed a sponsorship agreement that gives the organizers of the Biathlon World Championships (February 12 to 23, 2020) financial flexibility. The umbrella brand South Tyrol will act as a sponsor and thus guarantee Antholz a sum of 550.000 euros.

“We will also provide 550.000 euros for the Olympics” State Governor Arno Kompatscher “Biathlon is one of the most popular winter sports. A broad audience will follow the competitions," said state governor and sports councilor Arno Kompatscher after the government meeting, "therefore the state will make a total of 2026 euros available with a view to the 550.000 Winter Olympics." As far as South Tyrol's popularity is concerned, there is still room for improvement upwards, said the state governor.

The province of Bolzano calculates the amount of funding from the added value that South Tyrol receives from the mega sporting event, such as TV broadcasts, media reports and the like. The World Cup will be shown live in Italy, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Russia, among others. South Tyrol lettering as a constant World Cup companion As an official sponsor, the country is entitled to a number of marketing services: The lettering “South Tyrol” will be visible at the shooting range, on the starting numbers, on the interview walls as well as on other devices, clothing, printed materials and on the Internet.

Next winter there will be a fight for World Cup medals for the 6th time in the South Tyrol Arena. In 7 years, the winter sports center in the Puster side valley will be the venue for the biathlon competitions during the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
