Super “Doro” in Östersund unbeatable

Her start in Östersund was in jeopardy for a long time due to a cold. And despite her poor health, the 25-year-old put in an exhilarating performance in Sweden and was able to celebrate her first World Cup victory of her career and her fifth podium overall. Although Wierer only had the eighth-best running time, her sovereignty on the shooting range turned out to be crucial. With 20 shots, she made no mistake - on the contrary: she fired her shots at the black targets in record speed, laying the foundation for her victory in the Scandinavian biathlon stronghold. Nobody expected that - not even Dorothea Wierer herself, as evidenced by an incredulous shake of her head shortly after crossing the finish line. The 25-year-old had to forego starting with the mixed relay on Sunday due to illness and therefore only came to Östersund on Monday. It goes without saying that the exceptional athlete from Niederrasen has finally catapulted herself to the top of the biathon elite thanks to this success.

Federica Sanfilippo scores World Cup points In addition to Dorothea Wierer, two other South Tyrolean athletes were also in action: Federica Sanfilippo (Ridnaun) showed a demanding race and placed 4th with three misses, 04,0:30 minutes behind Dorothea Wierer. Karin Oberhofer (Feldthurns), however, was undone by a poor performance at the shooting range. With six missed shots, she received a total of six penalty minutes - as a result, she finished the race in an unsatisfactory 59th place.
