Along with Tiril Eckhoff and Hanna Öberg, the Norwegian is Wierer's fiercest opponent in the overall World Cup. The latter had to attend a lot of appointments after the outstanding World Cup in Antholz - and that came to light on Thursday.

The decision in the race had already been made early on: Denise Herrmann, who started the race with start number 3, showed a flawless performance in strong winds, was in a class of her own both at the shooting range and on the cross-country ski trail and took victory in a superior manner. There was a fight for the remaining podium places in which Wierer was unable to intervene. One mistake in the prone position and 2 in the standing position were too many. She finished the race in 24th place. Wierer's worst result of the season so far came from the individual competition in Pokljuka, when she finished 23rd.

Since Öberg and Eckhoff also made mistakes, supposed outsiders became the focus - like the Frenchwoman Anais Bescond, who shot perfectly but was unable to endanger Herrmann. Local hero Marketa Davidova completed the podium. Öberg and Eckhoff nevertheless made up ground in the overall World Cup on Wierer, who will be happy that there is no pursuit after the sprint. Federica Sanfilippo - like Michela Carrara - ended up outside the points, Lisa Vittozzi missed twice and took a strong 2th place.
