Promising start to the World Cup

It was a high-quality competition in which "zero" was achieved several times and every mistake was severely punished (ie with an extra minute).

Yuliya Zhurawok, who has already competed several times in South Tyrol through the IBU Cup, secured the gold by a narrow margin ahead of Poland's Kinga Mitoraj, who, like the new junior world champion, remained flawless. Bronze went to the “old friend” (but still young) Galina Vishnewskaya from Kazakhstan.

The two “Azzurre” in the race showed great performances, especially at the shooting range. Lisa Vittozzi took eighth place overall after two mistakes, so she was also very strong in her running. And with a bit more luck there would even have been a medal. "Lisa's mistake was so close that there was actually more than half the cartridge on the target, but unfortunately it didn't fall," commented Michela Ponza, who watched the athletes' performances like a hawk at the shooting range. But the athlete from Sappada can live well with eighth place - and is now even more motivated for the sprint competition on Saturday.

Carmen Runggaldier, however, shot just as well, but lost a lot of time along the way. "The routes here are exhausting. First, climbs that seem endless, then rapid descents where your legs burn just as much," commented Carmen Runggaldier. The woman from Val Gardena has definitely not lost her sense of humor and can live with 26th place.
