Vittozzi runs back onto the podium

Vittozzi was also in top form in the snow-covered winter sports resort in Bavaria and offered a flawless performance both on the cross-country ski trail and at the shooting range. “I felt really good today too. That was a beautiful day. I am very happy with my current condition,” said Vittozzi after reaching the finish line. The fact that in the end it wasn't enough for the 23-year-old from Friuli to achieve her third individual victory in a row was solely due to Anastasiya Kuzmina.

The Slovakian Olympic champion was 11,5 seconds faster on her skis than Vittozzi and achieved her 15th victory in the Biathlon World Cup with an unleashed performance. Third place went to the Swede Hanna Öberg, who also didn't miss a target at the shooting range.

Wierer's tenth top ten place Dorothea Wierer was unable to compete for victory after a mistake in the prone position. Although she had to go into the penalty loop once, she kept the gap to the front runners within limits and came home – like she did a few hours before her Teammate Lukas Hofer - Finished sixth and scored numerous World Cup points. For the 28-year-old racer, this is the tenth top ten placement in the eleventh individual competition this season. In doing so, she defended her commanding lead in the overall World Cup. The three other South Tyroleans clearly missed the points: Federica Sanfilippo took 57th place, Alexia Runggaldier finished 66th. Irene Lardschneider made no shooting mistakes in her World Cup debut, but still had to make do with 83rd place. What was Dorothea Wierer at the end of 2018 is Lisa Vittozzi at the beginning of 2019: the champion in Konstanz. The two-time Oberhof winner also ran on the “Stockerl” at the World Cup opener in Ruhpolding. However, her teammate from Pustertal defended her lead in the overall World Cup.
