From super talent to champion

The story of Dorothea Wierer is the story of a highly talented athlete who made something of this talent. Her father was a natural track luger, and her older sister Caroline was a biathlete. So she tried biathlon too, and it quickly became clear that she had an exceptional talent, especially in shooting. She was always the best, winning 5 gold medals at the Junior World Championships. At her World Cup debut in 2011 she was already 9th in the pursuit and 4th in the relay. She was still a junior then.

Until then, everything had always been easy for her. But in her first few years in the World Cup, she realized that she had to approach things more professionally if she wanted to be successful. That's what she did, and little by little the “big ones” started to achieve success. She won her first World Cup medal in 2013 with the women's relay, and a year later she won Olympic bronze with the mixed relay. But the golden years were yet to come.

In 2019 she won the World Cup and became mass start world champion. At the home World Championships in Antholz a year later, she won two titles and became a superstar. And she was able to win the World Cup again. All that was missing was the Olympic individual medal. She has now got it and has once again proven her strength of character in a season that was not easy for her. Much more than an athlete That was the quick chronicle of her sporting career. But Wierer is not just a successful athlete, she is a personality and can inspire people. She is very present on social media channels, with hundreds of thousands following her there. She lets the world share a little of her private life there, but not too much.

Wierer is not only a glamor woman, but also a family man. She grew up in a large family and has four siblings. Her father is a chef and has a restaurant in Brunico, where she often helped out. The last two winters have been tough for her as she has had to keep contact with her family to a minimum. She found love in Fiemme Valley. She has lived there for several years with her husband Stefano Corradini, to whom she has been married since June 2015. They are currently building their own house in Cavalese. This could be a small indication that her career is coming to an end. As a family person, she wants to start her own family.
