Wierer after silver coup: “It’s great how the boys have matured”

Dorothea Wierer won her eleventh medal at a World Cup on Wednesday in East Germany. The South Tyrolean has been one of the absolute world leaders in biathlon for almost ten years now. Someone has to follow her career first. Nevertheless, there is always a certain amount of pressure before a major event. “Of course, with today’s medal a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” said Wierer.

At 32 years old, Wierer has the most experience under her belt in Italy's mixed relay quartet. Lisa Vittozzi is 28 years old, while Tommaso Giacomel and Didier Bionaz are just 22. “It’s great how quickly our boys have matured,” explained Wierer. The woman from Niederrasner once again delivered a strong performance on Wednesday . “Before the start I actually had my own concerns because I didn't feel well when I woke up today. But it went better than expected,” said Wierer.
