Wierer & Hofer knocked out at Schalke

The 18th edition of this event consisted of a mass start and a pursuit and was all about Laura Dahlmeier, who completed her farewell race.

Despite a total of 6 penalties, Wierer/Hofer won the mass start ahead of Dahlmeier and her partner Philipp Nawrath.

Dahlmeier outstanding What was particularly impressive was what Dahlmeier showed: The German, who ended her impressive career this year, was the only one to hit all 20 targets - even though the 26-year-old, according to her own statement, was hardly interested in the spectacle in the sold-out crowd Veltins Arena had prepared. The race was bitter for the 2nd German duo, consisting of Denise Herrmann and Benedikt Doll: Since Herrmann had two missed shots in the standing position, but only made one penalty lap, they received a penalty minute.

In the subsequent pursuit, where the gap from the mass start was halved, the mixed shooting performance of Wierer and Hofer continued. So they couldn't fight for victory - they ended up in 5th place. Norway untouchable The team from Norway deservedly and clearly won. Marte Olsbu Røiseland and Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen distanced themselves from the competition by almost 30 seconds. Second place went to Ukraine (Anastasiya Merkushyna/Dmytro Pidruchnyi) ahead of the duo from France (Anais Bescond/Antonin Guigonnat), who snatched the podium place from Dahlmeier and Nawrath on the home straight.
