Wierer in top form: victory in Ruhpolding

Wierer has shown that her second place last week in the Oberhof Pursuit was no flash in the pan. With an outstanding performance, the 27-year-old went one better in Ruhpolding and took victory.

The basis for the triumph was the shooting range performance of the 27-year-old, who sank all 20 attempts with impressive speed. However, Wierer had to fear for victory right up to the end: No-name Rosanna Crawford, who had never been on the World Cup podium in her career, ran the race of her life with start number 96, didn't make a single mistake on the shooting range and was virtually tied until the last lap with Wierer. But then the Canadian ran out of breath, which is why she fell back to third place.

This meant that Dorothea Wierer's first win of the season was a done deal. It was her fourth triumph in a World Cup race, the third in an individual competition and also her second in Ruhpolding after 2016.

Federica Sanfilippo's performance was completely wrong: the biathlete from Ridnaun missed six times and ended up in 88th place, over seven minutes behind.
