Wierer and Vittozzi shine at Blinkfestivalen

A total of three races took place on Friday evening. First, the world-class field measured itself at the shooting range. The athletes had to clear the five targets as quickly as possible - a competition tailored to Wierer. In the quarter-finals, the 29-year-old had to give way to Veronika Vitkova from the Czech Republic, but no one could beat her in the semi-finals and final.

With 20,3 seconds, the woman from Niederrasner was more than three seconds ahead of the competition. Norwegian Randi Sollid Nordvang (23,8) came second ahead of her compatriot Marte Olsbu Roiseland (25,1).

Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch did not make it to the men's final. There the Norwegian Tarjei Bø narrowly beat Martin Fourcade. Johannes Thingnes Bø's older brother was 0,1 seconds faster than the Frenchman. Lars Helge Birkeland completed the podium.

Vittozzi wins prologue In the prologue, the South Tyrolean's shooting range was fatal. She missed a total of four times in two performances and landed in the back regions. Her teammate Vittozzi did better, missing the finish line twice, but in the end she was three seconds faster than second-place finisher Ragnhild Femsteinevik. Linn Persson from Sweden came third.

In the men's competition there was a French double victory. Simon Desthieux (2 errors) won ahead of Fabien Claude (3 errors). Aleksander Fjeld Andersen shot clean but only came third. Windisch ended up in 3th place after 30 mistakes, Hofer didn't start. Botched mass start From the Azzurri's perspective, the mass start did not go according to plan, as Wierer, Windisch and Vittozzi all made six errors. A podium place was therefore out of reach. Hanna Öberg won the women's competition (3 errors), while last season's dominator Johannes Thingnes Bø (2 errors) won the men's competition.
