Wierer and Vittozzi have forgotten how to shoot

As a Tenth after the sprint Dorothea Wierer went into the pursuit race. The starting position wasn't that bad, but after the prone stage Wierer said goodbye to his medal dreams. If the racer made a mistake on her first attempt, she only hit one target the second time. A 50 percent error rate when shooting prone - that's something you're not used to from Wierer. There were another three missed shots during standing shooting. With a total of eight errors, Wierer finished 20th.

But it wasn't just Wierer who made many mistakes. Teammate Lisa Vittozzi also had huge problems. She missed six targets in the first two shooting sessions, one more than Wierer. Although Vittozzi shot clean the following two times at the shooting range, that wasn't enough to finish higher than tenth. The Friulian has thus taken the lead in the overall World Cup again (six points ahead of Wierer).

Federica Sanfilippo and Nicole Gontier fit seamlessly into the shooting error festival. The woman from Ridnaun (39th place) missed five times, while her relay colleague Gontier (48th place) missed eight times. Two medals for Germany Mona Brorsson, who lives in Östersund and came to the last shooting as the leader, lost her nerve. The Swede had made no mistake three times before, but then she shot wide four times. Brorsson's bad luck (she ended up seventh) was Denise Herrmann and Laura Dahlmeier's luck. While Herrmann easily ran to the world title, Tiril Eckhoff stalked Dahlmeier in the background and finally won the finish sprint against the German. Wierer and Vittozzi have forgotten how to shoot

What was Dorothea Wierer's great strength just a few weeks ago is now causing her problems: shooting. The South Tyrolean made eight mistakes in the pursuit race at the Biathlon World Championships in Östersund. While Lisa Vittozzi also had big problems, Germany is celebrating the World Cup title.
