Wierer & Vittozzi are not enough: women's relay team knocked out

Lisa Vittozzi initially gave the Italian relay a befitting lead: the 24-year-old only made a mistake once at the shooting range - she gave her teammate Nicole Gontier a 13-second lead.

This was already melting in the cross-country ski trail and when Gontier missed the target 4 times in prone shooting and had to go into the round, her competitors passed her. The gap to the leading Swedish team subsequently grew even further, as the 28-year-old missed 5 times while standing, which resulted in 2 penalties. When Dorothea Wierer joined the race, the gap was already almost two and a half minutes.

Wierer is catching up The woman from Niederrasner showed a great race: she didn't have to reload once, she was also lightning fast on the cross-country ski trail and gained almost 50 seconds compared to the top. She handed over to Federica Sanfilippo in 10th place, 1.37,9:2 minutes behind. However, the woman from Ridnaun was unable to make up any more time because she made two mistakes in the final shooting. Ultimately, the Azzurre finished the race in 12th place, over 4 minutes behind. Norway celebrates, Switzerland surprises In the front field, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland fought a thrilling four-way battle: Mona Brorsson and Aita Gasparin were able to pull away a little before the last change, although the strong Tiril Eckhoff continuously made up for the deficit on the cross-country ski trail.

The preliminary decision came in the penultimate shooting session, when Hanna Öberg shot three tickets and Marte Olsbu Roeiseland remained clean. Because the Norwegian kept her nerve even in the standing position, no one could take the victory away from the Scandinavians. Switzerland in second place and Sweden in third place completed the podium. The German relay came fourth.
