Wierer: “I didn’t even know if I could compete”

Dorothea Wierer took her first podium place of 2020 in the sprint in Ruhpolding. Even though the Niederrasner woman had to give up the yellow jersey to the victorious Tiril Eckhoff, she was very satisfied with her performance.

A little poem about biathlon:

BIATHLON

An exciting sport
In a cold windy place,
Where they with their guns
Sprint across the trails.

With full use of the sticks
The fast-paced chase begins.
Just look ahead,
Let's go on the icy trail.
The fans heat everyone up,
Nobody runs alone.

In the shooting frame
We experience some dramas,
Should the small slices
Remain unscathed several times.
Every shot fired
Follows joy or annoyance.

Great waxed boards
Running in any weather.
Coaches are active on the sidelines,
Helping out of many depths.
Gave everything on the route
If you strive towards the goal.

Here you bask in the joy,
Or avoid the hustle and bustle.
The podium is quite small,
You drink water or wine.
