Germans dominate the World Cup – Baumgartner impresses in the European Cup

Led by double Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich, the German bobsleigh team completed the triumphant home World Cup in Winterberg with another triple victory in the foursome.

Friedrich won the second race of the weekend in the big sled on Sunday ahead of world champion Johannes Lochner and Nico Walther. The German men also took the entire podium on Saturday, and the women also achieved their first double success in almost four years. This means that all victories in the still young season will continue to go to the Bobsleigh and Sled Association for Germany (BSD).

Manuel Schwärzer also took part in the Skeleton World Cup in Winterberg. The 22-year-old from Meransen had already finished 24th on Friday (SportNews reported ).

Baumgartner 6th in the European Cup Meanwhile, Patrick Baumgartner competed in the European Cup in Königssee, where, among other things, there were two races in the four-man bobsleigh. The bobsleigh pilot from Pfalzen wants to concentrate on this discipline in the current season.

Baumgartner impressed on Saturday with the victory of the Canadian Nicholos Poloniato with 6th place. In addition to Alex Verginer from Gadertal, his team also included the two “Azzurri” Mattia Variola and Lorenzo Bilotti. On Sunday, Baumgartner had to make do with tenth place. Victory went to the German four-man bobsleigh with pilot Christof Hafer.
