IBSF confirms positive doping test in Jamaica's bobsleigh team

Cologne (SID) The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation IBSF has confirmed a positive doping test for a member of the Jamaican bobsleigh team. As the IBSF announced on Monday, the A sample of the athlete in question was positive during a check during a competition in January. The association will initiate further measures after the B sample has been opened. The Jamaican internet portal RJR News had previously reported that a member of the Caribbean bobsleigh team that competed at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang had tested positive for the doping drug clenbuterol. This would mean one of the two athletes in the Jamaican two-man bobsleigh, pilot Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian or pusher Carrie Russell - another Jamaican sled did not qualify for the Games. Jamaica's association president Christian Stokes confirmed the case to the portal: "We have been notified of the abnormality in the test. But we are confident that this will end well. We have learned that it is now best to remain calm." Fenlator-Victorian and the former world-class athlete Russell finished 18th in Pyeongchang. The public dispute between ex-coach Sandra Kiriasis and the association caused a stir. In Pyeongchang, Russian bobsleigh pilot Nadezhda Sergeyeva was excluded from the Winter Olympics because of doping.
